This is an update on the progress being made for the 2012 National Assessor Academies:

  1. Regional and National assessors are required to recertify once every two years. If you choose not to recertify in 2012, then you must recertify in 2013 or lose your opportunity to continue as a NISOA assessor.
  2. Registration is now open. Registration is done online this year and you must have a valid credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover) to register for one of the academies. Registration fee of $50.00.
  3. Registration is for invited, returning National Assessors and Regional Assessors.
  4. Academy locations and dates have been confirmed. Approved Academy Sites
  5. Registration is from April 9, 2012 until May 15, 2012. After that date, a $30 late fee will be included in the registration fee and will be so noted on the payment step of the registration process. NOTE: Those registering for the clinic on 5/5/2012 must be registered before April 27, 2012.
  6. To access the registration process you must (1) login into the ArbiterSports.com web-site. Once you have signed in, you should be able to select the (2) NISOA Central Hub as one of your selection options. Click on that link and it will take you to the NISOA Central Hub and the registration links. Assessors will use the (3) Assessor Registration only! A National Referee that is a Regional or National Assessor does not have to register as an assessor.

It is my understanding that we are to complete the test on-line prior to attending our selected clinic. Where do we go to take the written test.

I do not have the NISOA Central Hub on my Arbiter Sports account to be able to sign up for an academy location as instructions listed below:

  4. Michael O'Flaherty says:

John Van de Vaarst. Have been National Assessor about 10 years. Was just notified by local friend Eddie Braun of the Chicago school for which he did not see me registered, and he likes to use me. First I’d heard of it. Now appears I’m too late. Too, I did not receive copy of 2012 Rules, upon which we will be tested. Can you possibly provide any assistance to me ? If so,
    I’ll thank you kindly.

This lack of awareness may be my own fault. Healthy as a horse all my life. But since Mar 2006 I’ve had calcified aorta replacement, two brain surgeries following fall on black ice preparing to drive to put on a 2-day USSF clinic (which I did), partial knee replacement on both knees (player since 1947, 3 years in Germany, coach 20 years including college, State instructor about 20 years (6 years Ill. SDI), State & NISOA Ntnl assessor, assigner, State Ref, 4750& matches), followed by viral pneumonia causing total kidney failure. Now again healthy and seeking engineering or instructor or technical writing work. My love is soccer. Can you assist
re the Chicago Assessor refresher meeting. Would help assist the NRC folks if it would help with the program coverage. Michael O’

Please check with the chapter to see if you are registered as an assessor. If not please do so. I am sure Ed can give you a rule book to study. Looking forward to meeting you in Chicago this summer.
