The National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association (NISOA) Internet Privacy Policy

Thank you for visiting the NISOA online.  Your privacy is important to us.  To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used at this site.

The Internet, Privacy, and NISOA

NISOA policy is to respect and protect the privacy of our guests.  This policy statement advises users how information is collected and how it is used.

The Internet contains a wealth of information:  at times it may contain personal details about the user that not everyone needs to know.  For example, real name, street address, phone number, or e-mail address.  When someone is online, sites visited gather information about the user without their knowledge.  NISOA strives to assist our users and protect their privacy while using the NISOA web site and services.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded after thirty days.

Use of User Information

NISOA has several sponsors and business partners that can offer valuable products and services from the web site. The NISOA web site does not collect potentially sensitive information, such as an email address, from visitors without their expressed consent by filling out a form on the web site. The NISOA web site collects information about the visitor’s domain. We use the information to help refine and improve the content on the site. The NISOA web site uses cookies to protect potentially sensitive information for logged in users only.   NISOA will not disclose the e-mail address of any user to these partners and sponsors.  The user is the only one who can provide an e-mail address to receive information, special offers, or promotions from a partner or sponsor.

We collect information about visitors who comment on Sites that use our Akismet anti-spam service. The information we collect typically includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself).

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: Gravatar Privacy Policy. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

The NISOA web site uses Google Analytics for evaluating and tracking content consumption via anonymous analytics data. Please refer to Google’s current policy regarding privacy issues.
