2019 Postseason Assignments
There have been many inquiries regarding the NCAA postseason assignment process and how it relates to NISOA membership. Postseason appointments made by the NCAA, NAIA, NIRSA, and NJCAA are done so at the sole discretion of the assignment coordinator for that specific governing body.
NISOA does provide its members with important opportunities to increase visibility, including, but not limited to:
NISOA sponsors various educational opportunities where members attending are provided the opportunity to network with NCAA & NAIA postseason coordinators of assignments at events such as The Summit, National Referee Clinics, Conference Practical Field Training Clinics, etc.
New as of 2018, NCAA has expanded their recommendations list to allow the NISOA local chapters the ability to recommend up to 5 names for postseason opportunities.
NISOA provides the NCAA and NAIA with a recommendation list of all current National Referees. NISOA Conference assignors also may recommend their top performing officials within their respected conferences.
As a member benefit of the NISOA National Referee Program, NISOA subsidizes the NCAA postseason registration process for all National Referees that meet all the requirements set forth by the NCAA for postseason eligibility.
NISOA also provides the NCAA with a list of the current Region Referee of the Year winners and the weekly winners of the Terry Vaughn NISOA Referee of the Week presented by Official Sports.
NISOA’s long standing partnership with NIRSA allows for input on the referee selection process along with proving attending National Referees a modest travel stipend to help offset costs associated with attending the event.
The more lists your name appears on, the more likelihood of receiving postseason assignments and being invited to National Championship events. For those receiving postseason assignments in 2019, please send your crew photos to Secretary Ben Trevino at BTrevino@NISOA.com.
With the 2019 season finally concluding, please take this opportunity to enjoy the holidays and spend much needed time this offseason with family, friends, and loved ones.
We hope everyone had a fantastic 2019 season and look forward to seeing all of you at various NISOA events throughout 2020.
