In Memoriam; Gregory Watson

We are deeply saddened to announce that long time NISOA member and assessor, Gregory Watson passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2021.

As a pillar in the soccer community Greg graciously and tirelessly gave his time and abilities by serving as a NISOA Assessor and Maryland SRA for many years. Blessed with an affinity for teaching, Greg had the ability to encourage and inspire all of those around him. NISOA Director of Membership, Tom Richardson, spoke of how Greg was always mentoring younger referees in the college ranks.

Over the years Greg positively impacted the lives of countless individuals and played an important role in the development of so many referees. Greg will truly be missed by the entire NISOA Community.

Greg is survived by his wife of almost 48 years, Toni; his son Paul, his wife Jessica and their two kids, Chloe and Jace; and his daughter, April.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Rd., Clinton, MD 20735, Phone 301-868-5141. Greg will be interred there also. The cemetery only allows for 50 guests. They also would like to have the least amount of cars as possible so carpooling is preferred. If you would like to attend, please contact April @ awatsonatc@verizon.net.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Almost Home/SPCA, 29 Stagebridge Rd., Lovingston, VA 22949, 434-263-7722 or the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023 or www.diabetes.org
