Corey Rockwell Joins NISOA Leadership Team!
It is our great pleasure to welcome Corey Rockwell (Arizona ISOA) in Phoenix, AZ as NISOA’s newest appointed Senior Director of Education. Corey joined NISOA in 1994 with the Georgia ISOA and has officiated 10 College Cups, including refereeing the NCAA National Championship matches in 2009, 2016 and 2017 and 5 championship assignments as an Assistant Referee.
You may know Corey for his impressive professional resume, including 2011 MLS Assistant Referee of the Year, 2012 U.S. Open Cup Final, Copa America in 2016, not to mention his selection to officiate the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and most recently MLS Cup Final in 2019. Corey has been on the FIFA International Panel as an Assistant Referee since 2007 and remains a critical part of the panel today.
However, each college season Corey trades the flag for a whistle as a well respected official in the college game known for many Corey-isms across the numerous conferences he works. From the dynamic power squat to the goal line to goal line shuttle runs, Corey has made a strong presence in the college game. We’re delighted to have Corey’s experience on the Leadership Team at NISOA.
As the Senior Director of Education, Corey will oversee NISOA’s educational agenda, including but not limited to clinics at the national and regional level, webinars, the annual NISOA Summit, quiz series as well as chapter educational content. The Director of Video, Mark Cahen, as well as Director of Assessment, Amanda Ross, will both report to Corey, fully aligning all of our education under Corey’s leadership. As many of you know, Todd Abraham remains on the team in an advisory capacity to ensure a smooth transition of our educational programs. We are forever indebted to Todd’s countless years of service and contributions to NISOA.
As a longtime loyal NISOA member, Corey brings decades of collegiate experience at the highest levels in addition to being one of our top rated instructors year over year. Corey understands the importance education plays in making us all better one game at a time. Please join us in welcoming Corey in his new leadership capacity and we look forward to great things from Corey in this new role.
